Superintendent's Communiqué

From Pastor Dan Garlitz, Supt.

WV District United Pentecostal Church Int’l

April 28, 2008

Christian greetings to all the United Pentecostal Church family in the mountains of West Virginia and western Maryland!

Mother’s Day and Pentecost Sunday
...Two very exciting and powerful evangelism Sundays, are just around the corner. Both of these special days are full of potential for reaching new people with the Gospel. Organize your leadership team and plan to IMPACT your local community. When we all put our best effort into these times of local IMPACT we create a district-wide dynamic that affects the ministry of every community. Imagine each church in the district working… promoting… praying… reaching for the lost… all on the same day. The IMPACT will be tremendous! With this opportunity we can surely IMPACT THE DISTRICT as new souls are gathered into the KINGDOM OF GOD!

There are many ideas available from various online resources. To help you organize and energize those you lead as you seek to be involved in Global Impact you can go to the UPCI website and download the Pastors Resource Workbook. You will find this to be a very valuable tool as you work to IMPACT your community.

District Conference 2008

  • Welcome
By now you have received notice of District Conference; agenda, speakers, and motels. Thanks to Bro. David Hudson for his (as always) excellent preparation to receive us for this great district gathering. We are looking forward to having with us the ministers and saints from the western Maryland area….WELCOME!

  • 2008 Election of Officers
We will be holding elections for departmental secretaries as well as for the Home Missions Director. Also, we will elect a Foreign Missions Director because Brother Frank Mooring has resigned, and we will elect a Director for Men’s Ministry as Brother Chris Sowards has resigned. I want to personally thank both of these good brethren for their excellent service in their respective offices.

  • If you need to meet the District Board
...please contact Bro. David Hudson as to appointment time on the agenda.

Newly Elected Presbyter
Section 5 recently met and elected Bro. Dale Pitsenbarger to be their Presbyter. We welcome him to the District Board. This action was necessary since the resignation of Bro. Philip Neil. Bro. Neil has also felt it necessary to resign as a UPCI minister as well. We pray God’s blessings upon both he and his family as they seek new direction for their future.

Healing Service - Apostolic Ministry
Wednesday night of Spring Conference 2008 has been designated a night of focused on divine healing. We still believe our God is interested in doing miracles and healing the sick and diseased! Brother William Sciscoe will bring the message for this service. I am asking the churches within driving distance to cancel their local Wednesday night service and be at conference. Bring all that need a miracle and expect our great God and Savior to meet with us.

2008 Heritage Conference
This event highlighting our district’s heritage will convene May 30-31 at the Tornado Apostolic Church where Brother Wilson Hudson and Brother Daniel Coleman minister. Brother and Sister Arlie Lilley, our Heritage Directors, are putting together a great program for this meeting.

  • Bro. J.T. Pugh will be the featured speaker both Friday and Saturday. Look for additional announcements in your mailbox soon.

  • PLEASE, if you have any pictures, testimonies, or memorabilia from the past let us know…Western Maryland was very much in the picture of the old East Central District….help us out with our history!

Campground

  • 2008 Campmeeting
Before you know it we will be gathering for summer campmeeting at Point Pleasant. Again both the Sunday School and Youth Departments are planning on receiving the wonderful young folks from across the district for a great time of fun, fellowship, and spiritual refreshing. Additional information will be forth coming.

  • Pledges for Tabernacle Roof
If you made a pledge for the new tabernacle roof last year please send it soon to Brother David Hudson, District Secretary….. with “Tabernacle Roof” in the check memo.

  • Workdays
...to prepare the grounds and facilities will be the week of July 7-12.

Prayer Evangelist Available
Bro. Richard Glass is available to conduct a prayer revival for your church. You may reach him at 304-257-1587 or e-mail sdbu21@frontiernet.net.

Prayer Request
Continue to lift up Bro. Mooring and family in your prayers as well as the church in Buckhannon as they deal with home-going of Sister Mooring.
